many things i’ve learned to do the past year , many ideas and stories are all still boiling in a pot … stewing .. , but one of the experiences i can’t wait to share is the experience of having a pet dog . i never liked raising dogs, and i think i never will , but lately in the military , i was posted at a deserted location in the middle of nowhere , where scorpions , desert snakes and some toxic insects are the least of your worries . many creatures live around me there , and from those creatures … “moon” - thats what i call him - became my guardian angel , a fluffy white haired with a red nose and red ears huge dog . whenever i came by its den walking through the desert , it would park like it was summoning demons from hell , many times i threw food near him as a decoy to pass by or out of boredom sometime , and it ignores me and the food , until one day i had the courage to keep the food in my hands and kept whistling to get its attention , he approached slowly with one eye of the food and another on me , i had to let my guard down for him to believe i meant no harm , and he did to he took a bite from the loaf i held in my hand , and another , and another , and then he started swinging his tail ” a sign of happiness ” , i threw the loaf on the ground near him , and he ignores it and keeps looking at me , i take the loaf in my hand , and he comes and eats again … that was 20 days ago … 2 days ago , i fell asleep for a couple of secs from the cold and tiredness while still in duty … i woke startled by some strange sounds just beside my head , … i jumped on my feet , and i saw “moon” digging in the ground just inches from where my head where seconds ago , he removed a stone .. dug to a certain length in sand , and got out with his mouth something that i would prefer to thinks is an innocent insect , i don’t like to think it was something dangerous but still … , after “moon” gutted and ate the thing , he came towards me swinging he tail , dangled around me for a bit , and slept just a meter away … i always was a cat person , but “moon” keeps changing that in me over and over . its not a life changing experience or any thing , but having that dog there is one of the things iam really thankful for btw … i call him ” amar ” which is “moon in arabic ” because he looks like the moon so clearly white in the very dark sky over there and i kept swinging between using ” it and he ” because he became more than just an animal in that solitude .
