This archive is a tree. One trunk, seven branches, thousands of leaves.

I've been writing since 2014 — mostly in Arabic, sometimes in English, always in pursuit of seven questions that I haven't finished answering. The questions are the branches. Every post is a leaf on one of them.

The seven questions:

  1. On the so-called Renaissance —
  2. Attention and the wandering mind —
  3. Engineering as a writing practice —
  4. Why most courses fail —
  5. October 2023, faith, the limits of language —
  6. How does Egypt see itself? —
  7. Is metaphor the deepest form of thinking? —

You can read the archive as a list (archive), as a graph (the tree), or by wandering (wander). The default is the tree — the homepage renders the graph with the trunk post in the reading panel. Start there.

This page is a placeholder. The full editorial essay about the archive will replace it before launch.
